In the beginning, Eden was a perfect place. God gave Adam and Eve everything, with just one command: Do not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

One day, the serpent approached Eve. “You will not surely die,” the serpent said. “For God knows that when you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God.” Eve looked at the fruit and was tempted. It looked delicious, beautiful, and desirable for gaining wisdom. She ate it. Adam ate it too.

"When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it." [Genesis 3:6]

Sin entered the world.

Then they felt shame. Before sin, they had no reason to feel embarrassed. But sin opened their eyes in a way they had never known. For the first time, they wanted to hide.

God called out to Adam.

"But the Lord God called to the man, 'Where are you?'" [Genesis 3:9]

This wasn’t just a question of location. It was the beginning of grace. God didn’t begin with anger—He began by seeking.

Though they were banished from the garden, God still cared. He made garments of skin for them and clothed them with compassion.

"The Lord God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them." [Genesis 3:21]

God didn’t start with "Why did you sin?"
He started with "Where are you?"

That question still echoes today. We all have days we want to hide. But even now, God comes near, speaks kindly, covers us, and invites us to begin again.

“Where am I now?”
Even when we run or hide, God's voice gently calls us back.
He isn’t looking to condemn—but to restore.
If you hear His question today, pause and answer. Grace begins there.

선악과의 유혹과 하나님의 질문 – 아담과 하와의 타락

에덴동산은 완전한 곳이었습니다. 하나님은 모든 것을 허락하셨지만, 단 하나, 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매만은 먹지 말라고 하셨습니다.

그러던 어느 날, 뱀이 하와를 유혹합니다. 

"그 열매를 먹으면 하나님처럼 될 수 있어." 하와는 열매를 보고 마음이 흔들렸고, 결국 먹고 말았습니다. 아담도 그 열매를 받아 함께 먹었습니다.

“여자가 그 나무를 본즉 먹음직도 하고 보암직도 하고 지혜롭게 할 만큼 탐스럽기도 한 나무인지라…” [창세기 3:6]

죄는 그렇게 시작되었습니다.

두 사람은 부끄러움을 느끼고 숨었습니다. 죄가 들어오기 전까지는 부끄러움이 없었습니다. 하지만 죄는 눈을 열게 했고, 자신을 숨기고 싶은 마음을 처음 만들어냈습니다.

그때 하나님이 그들을 부르셨습니다.

“여호와 하나님이 아담을 부르시며 그에게 이르시되 네가 어디 있느냐” [창세기 3:9]

이것은 책망이 아니라, 죄 속에 있는 인간을 향한 하나님의 첫 부르심이었습니다.

그들은 에덴에서 쫓겨났지만, 하나님은 가죽옷을 지어 입히시며 여전히 그들을 덮어주셨습니다.

“여호와 하나님이 아담과 그의 아내를 위하여 가죽옷을 지어 입히시니라” [창세기 3:21]

하나님은 타락한 인간에게 “왜 그랬느냐”가 아닌,
먼저 “네가 어디 있느냐”고 물으셨습니다.

그 질문은 지금도 이어지고 있습니다.
어쩌면 우리도, 숨고 싶은 날이 많지만…
하나님은 오늘도 찾아오시고, 말을 걸어주시고,
가려주시고, 다시 시작하게 하십니다.

“지금, 나는 어디에 있을까?”
하나님 앞에 숨고 싶은 마음은 여전히 있지만,
그분은 우리를 부르시며 기다리고 계십니다.
부르심 앞에 나아가보세요. 그곳에서 은혜는 다시 시작됩니다.
