The Creation Story – How God Brought Order to the World

[Genesis 1:1–2:3]

How did the world begin? We live in a complex world, but in the very beginning, there was nothing. No light, no shape—just darkness and chaos. Then came a voice. God said, “Let there be light,” and everything began to change.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” [Genesis 1:1]

God created the world in six days, step by step, with perfect order:

  • Day 1 – Light and Darkness: On the first day, He separated light from darkness.
  • Day 2 – Sky: On the second day, He created the sky.
  • Day 3 – Land and Vegetation: On the third day, He gathered the waters and let the dry ground appear, making room for plants to grow.
  • Day 4 – Sun, Moon, and Stars: On the fourth day, He placed the sun, moon, and stars to govern time and seasons.
  • Day 5 – Fish and Birds: On the fifth day, He created fish and birds.
  • Day 6 – Animals and Humans: On the sixth day, He created animals on the land, and finally, He created humans—made in His own image.

God looked at everything He had made and rested on the seventh day. This rest wasn't just about stopping work; it was about enjoying the peace that comes when everything is in its proper place.

A phrase repeats throughout this story: “God saw that it was good.” And at the end:

“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good...” [Genesis 1:31]

God is the One who brings order out of chaos. Creation was not accidental—it was intentional and beautifully designed. Even in the mess of our daily lives, His peace and order can still be found. Take a moment today to look for the creative hand of God in your ordinary moments.

창조 이야기 – 하나님이 세상에 질서를 주신 이야기

세상은 어떻게 시작되었을까요? 우리는 지금도 복잡한 세상 속에 살고 있지만, 처음 모든 것이 만들어졌을 땐 아무것도 없었습니다. 빛도 없고 모양도 없던 혼돈의 세계에 하나님의 한마디가 울려 퍼졌습니다.

“태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라.” (창세기 1:1)

하나님은 여섯 날 동안 세상을 질서 있게 창조하셨습니다.

  • 첫째 날, 빛과 어둠을 나누시고,
  • 둘째 날, 하늘을 펼치셨으며,
  • 셋째 날, 땅과 바다를 구분하고 식물을 자라게 하셨습니다.
  • 넷째 날, 해와 달, 별들을 두어 계절과 시간을 다스리게 하셨고,
  • 다섯째 날, 물고기와 새를 창조하시고,
  • 여섯째 날, 육지의 동물들과 함께 하나님을 닮은 사람까지 창조하셨습니다.

그리고 그들에게 이 세상을 맡기셨습니다. 일곱째 날, 하나님은 모든 일을 마치시고 안식하셨습니다. 그분의 쉼은 단순한 휴식이 아니라, 완성된 창조 위에 임한 평화의 선언이었습니다.

창조 이야기 속에는 반복되는 말이 있습니다. “하나님이 보시기에 좋았더라.” 그리고 마지막 날, 하나님은 이렇게 말씀하셨습니다.

“하나님이 지으신 그 모든 것을 보시니 보시기에 심히 좋았더라...” (창세기 1:31)

하나님은 말씀으로 질서를 만드신 분이십니다. 그분의 창조는 혼돈 속에서도 분명한 계획 아래 이루어졌습니다. 우리의 삶이 복잡하고 흐트러져 있을지라도, 하나님의 질서와 평화는 지금 이 순간에도 임할 수 있습니다. 오늘 하루, 하나님의 창조적 손길을 나의 삶 속에서 발견해보세요.
